How many times have you heard someone talk about their time at camp as one of the most powerful and most memorable times in their life? It’s a pretty common statement. Camp provides an atmosphere for the students to let go of whatever goes on in daily living, and focus on their relationship with their creator. They are inspired, encouraged, and experience the call to respond to their Savior’s love. 

Our church is unique. A majority of our students are from the community rather than from families right inside out body. Parents who attend our church understand the value of camp, but many of their families don’t know what camp is about and wouldn’t value it the same way. That is why we believe it is extremely important they have the opportunity to attend. 

Please help send our students to camp! You can be directly involved in presenting Christ to these students in a unique way. We have a fundraiser going on right now that allows you to purchase a discount card with some great. local deals for you, while caring for the total cost of camp for our students. These discount cards are $10 and we have 350 of them. Grab a few for friends. Grab a few… just because. Hey, go above and beyond and purchase one for more than $10. There is no better cause.

We will leave in the morning on Wednesday and arrive home early Saturday evening. If you remember, the spring trip has always been a shorter trip and we will just set up the beauty sa- lon. Last year with only one hairdresser, we were able to serve 46 people in those two work days. It is truly a blessing to be a part of and we invite any lady to come see what God might be calling you to do. You could help do the manicures; help sort and pass out the goodie bags; we usually have loads and loads of towels to launder; and we usually cook our own meals to allow more salon time. We also need at least one ‘porch sitter’ to visit with the people while they wait, actually, I guess, you would be a ‘salon sitter’! So you see, you do not have to be a hairdresser to go.

At this time, we would like to ask you to begin gath- ering up your ‘hotel’ soaps, shampoo, and lotion to drop off at the church. We would also appreciate any other donations such as family size shampoo or lotion, deodorants, shaving cream, disposable razors for both men and women, and most any personal care products for us to give away.

Our Fall trip is planned for Sep- tember 9th-15th when we will be picking a work pro- ject and setting up the salon. Please pray for us as we begin to plan for the year and as we see what God has laid out for us!

The past three months have been busy ones with camping and biking ―down south‖ in east central Indiana, our annual ― bowling and electronic‖ lockin, ringing the Salvation Army bell, laser tagging in lieu of tubing because of a shortage of that white stuff, assisting with the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby and last but not least honoring at the January Court of Honor those Scouts who have earned merit badges and moved up in rank!

February will find Troop 726 winter camping at the Klondike Derby, tubing and skiing in Michigan, April and May provides additional camping opportunities, pie sales this winter and dunk tank fundraiser at the Mermaid Festival June 13-16, which both help the scouts pay for June’s Scout merit badge summer camp and a High Adventure trip in late July!

What a crazy night! First, we had a competition to see who came dressed in the most festive garb. No, this first picture is not from that competition, but from a team competition of reindeer games. Clayton is santa and you can see his reindeer in the background. 

Some of the NWUMC ladies provided a Christmas feast to fill our stomaches with Christmas spirit (aka: nachos). – Thank you! 

AND we had a good time talking about what Christmas is about.
